The Pleasants Effect

The film of Pete Levine’s life. Started in 1973 and finished in 2020, this first film from a 70 year-old young director, tells the story of CR Pleasants’ life, and family, an amateur inventor who claimed to be able to dispel the type of fog that, in the 30s and 40s, afflicted plane pilots. 

A sui generis documentary about the life and family of an amateur inventor from the first half of the 20th century, C.R. Pleasants, who created a way to disperse fog, making life easier for pilots of his time. But he never achieved the desired success. This is a film that started in 1973, was finished in 2020 and spent, in the meantime, 40 years in the drawer. It’s the life’s work of director Pete Levine and a pearl of a story, rescued from oblivion. (Ana Cabral Martins)
