A portrait of the new flamenco in Seville, through nine protagonists, including the dancer Javiera de la Fuente, the poet David Pielfort, the gypsy lawyer and feminist Pastora Filigrana or the actress Rocío Montero. Includes performances by Israel Galván, Alfredo Lago, Inés Bachan, Rocío Márquez, Cantizano Raul, Loyal Leonor, Tomás de Perrate, Niño de Elche, Silvia Pérez Cruz and Rosalía.

Music is never only about music itself. It is not, in particular, music whose roots we find deeply buried in a community. That music is also the history of origins lost far away in time, it is the streets and people that shape it, it is those same people that, life beating inside, will change it generation after generation. 9 Sevilles is a film about flamenco, as much as a movie about Andalusia’s capital and the diverse people that inhabit it, about its central neighborhoods and its impoverished outskirts. Signed by Pedro G. Romero, curator, art historian and dance choreographer, and by the film director and musical producer Gonzalo Pelayo, who doubles as a memorable cicerone, 9 Sevilles is a heterodox, unclassifiable, fascinating movie. A documentary about the past and the present of flamenco, a collection of life stories where characters of vastly different paths and origins mingle (Africa, South America and Eastern Europe). A place where performances created for the movie (Silvia Perez Cruz, Rosalía, among others) connect with scenes from other movies, from another time, the city always acting as the main character, 9 Sevilles is a flamenco portrait that unfolds, in a rich and surprising way, disclosing a complex musical, cultural, social and geographic mosaic. It is not only about the music, it is never only about the music, and that is why it represents the music so well. (Mário Lopes)
