More than 27,000 people in 11 days of festival

After two editions in the middle of summer and with limited audiences, IndieLisboa returned to its full format, with the usual calendar and nightly programming. In total, more than 27,000 people came to the festival, distributed by 231 film sessions and more parties, concerts and parallel activities held during 11 days at Cinema São Jorge, Culturgest, Cinema Ideal, Cinemateca Portuguesa, Palácio Galveias Library, Lusófona University, B.Leza, Saint George Church and Musicbox.

The sessions for schools also returned after two years of absence of IndieJunior and the youngest section of the festival managed to gather around 6,500 spectators.

The 19th edition of the festival brought to Lisbon 398 accredited professionals between April 28th and May 8th. It was a return to normality for the event, which this year had the largest national feature film competition – 9 films – in its history. The photos of this edition can be found on the festival’s official Facebook page.

Between May and September, 10 extensions of the festival will take place in different cities of the country, the first ones being in Vila Franca de Xira, Aljezur, Palmela, Odivelas, Montemor-o-Novo and Coimbra.

IndieLisboa will return in 2023, with a new selection of films produced in Portugal and abroad. The submission of films opens in August. From April 27th to May 7th, independent cinema returns to the city for the 20th edition of the festival.
