Momma's Man

When thirty-something Mikey is overcome by a fierce personal crisis, he returns to his parental home in Tribeca, New York, and moves into his old room. Less is more in this intriguing mix of feature film story and personal revelations: Mikey is on his way to the airport after visiting his parents when he decides to stay on. He goes back to the building in which he grew up, in Manhattan, back to his nursery, that is now a storage space. He lies to his parents about the reason for his return, calls his wife in California who is looking after her crying baby and also lies to her. Mikey seems to have succumbed to a severe personal crisis.

Murmullos Escondidos

Aurora arrived recently to the building and knows its new neighbor, José, in the runner. After two encounters, José invites Aurora to see a film in its house. Aurora accepts the invitation, that accidentally happens on the Christmas Eve. They end up having dinner, the alcohol breaks down their silence and they begin telling each other personal stories.

A transvestite professional sex worker from a middle class Texan family waits for customers while listening to Henry Gorecki and drinking mini diet Coca-Cola. His maid the ‚Äòchocolate covered strawberry’ comforts him by rubbing his ‚Äòsoft batch’ and they begin making love.

Rewind

A bunch of three gambler thieves, one of whom is blind, have managed to crack a safe. The safe has diamonds worth a million, but then greed takes over as they decide to play the barrel roulette. The guy who survives would keep the diamonds. The film moves in reverse towards the beginning as the opening of the film evolves as the climax.

One Day

She is beautiful, she is strong. She is 36 years old and comes from West Africa. She lives in the suburb of Copenhagen. She works as a prostitute. Each month she sends money home to the family. She misses them. She believes in God. She eats and smokes more than she used to. And outside it’s raining.

Costica Arhir raises his three children in the village of Acui, Republic of Moldavia. His wife has left for Italy three and a half years ago to find work, and has not been home since. In a similar situation are around half of the active population of this country. This documentary film, shot between January and April 2007, uses fictional elements in storytelling and camerawork, creating a stage where the characters interpret themselves.

The Apology Line

Feeling guilty? The film is based around the creation of a real-life ‘apology line’ where members of the public can anonymously confess to absolutely anything, over the telephone. The idea came up from the original apology project in New York, conceived by artist Allan Bridge. James Lees took the concept and created a short doc/experimental hybrid film with the phone line as the starting point.

The Drift

The Drift uses frame-by-frame techniques to weave an absurd fable about our America’s unflinching frontierism and the desire to push too far, too fast. Images dug out of thrift store bookshelves and flea market bins are animated to create an alternate take on what really happened behind the face of ground control, the space program, and the American psyche.
