A lonely tailor despairs at the results of his terrible curse.

If the scorpion could see and the viper could hear, there would be no escape”. The viper is deaf and the scorpion can’t see, so it is and so shall be, the same way the countryside is peaceful and the city bustling and the human being impossible to satisfy. Lacrau demands the return “to the curve where man got lost” in a journey from the city towards nature. The escape from chaos and emotional void we call progress; matter without spirit, without will. The search for the most ancient sensations and relationships of mankind. The amazement, the fear of the unknown, the loss of basic comforts, loneliness, the meeting with the other, the other animal, the other vegetable. A dive looking for a connection with the world. Where beginning and end are the same, but I am not. (João Vladimiro)
Three perfectly true stories about lying: in three episodes based on documentary interviews we meet the burglar who, when found out, claims to be a moonlighting accountant, the boy who finds himself lying and confessing to a crime he didn’t commit and the woman whose whole life has been a chain of lies.
In this science fiction film a virus lands on Sweden and transforms its inhabitants into zombies. The ones not infected isolate and come together to control and explore the weakest, the sick ones. The cinematography is dominated with skill and dives us into this frightening world. (Miguel Cabral)
A family weekend is what this road-movie proposes. What could be an intimate moment of sharing between four people is, however, stained by the acknowledgment that this is the last time they will be together. There are two worlds inside the car ‚ the back seat that accompanies with little interferences the heads in tension of the parents, and the front seat, which divided in half tries to communicate to the back only its positive side. The territory is mined and must be handled with caution. Wanna Sleep Tired, phrase sung in the film, confirms the end of the relationship like a farewell ballad. Although young, Dominga Sotomayor holds the film with mastery, revealing every detail with sweetness and emotion, creating imagens with shadows and taking advantage of lights and landscape, making us penetrate a familiar universe in which we never feel like intruders or voyeurs. (Miguel Valverde)
Left-wing youth reacts the day after the elections. From helpness to startle, tears and anger. How to cope with it, or where to flee?
Ana visits Boris in Brussels. He is a conceptual artist with a promising career ahead of him. She is still looking for her place in the world of adults, but her nature celebrates gladly freedom and innocence. For years they have tried to say goodbye so they can move on and this time they may suceed. A poetic and inspiring film about breaking up and starting over. (Ágata Pinho)
A village where silent dwellers are occupied by repetitive tasks. A wood where a bunch of men in rags seems to be waiting for something. And a man, at night, running away.
In the hellish mayhem of a lowest division football match, the destinies of two thieves cross path.
A man crosses a river in a raft. He places the bodies he finds along the way calmy and scrupulously on top of it. In the silence of the night, his repetitious movements leave us wondering about the sense of his route and gestures. (Miguel Cabral)
There’s no place more mundane than a pub. Everyone goes there for a chat and a drink. Joseph Pierce captures all the details, physical and psychological, of the daily customers of a London pub, exaggerating them in a sharp and entertaining way. A grotesque animation that also works as a social satire. (Carlos Ramos)
There’s a rabbit who is a great leader, misteriously adored in silence. A magical and enigmatic animation, made of delicate drawings and soft movements. An action in loop that can be read as a metaphor for the complexity of our world and power relationships. What about you: do you believe in the Great Rabbit? (Carlos Ramos)
Portrait of a young man. He lives with his girl friend. He is a plumber and has to repair a swimming pool. He works, he wanders around, and climbs where he can.
With a trifling use of institutional images from the 20th century American collective, the film revisits the time of Taylorism with the exchange of letters between husband and wife. As the theory fails empirically at the factory, the term reorganization applies perfectly to the domestic economy. (Miguel Valverde)
A love and hate relationship between two adorable siblings that simply can’t keep their mouth shut. Constant mumblecore, sarcasm and nervousness in this grayny road trip where Colin takes off with his sister, J.R. They stay at motels, pretending to be married, they are visiting ex-boyfriends to get J.R.’s stuff back and crash parties of highschool friends. Irony and cynicism covers their vulnerability that is impossible to be hidden by one another, dynamic and fresh dialogue between them signifies the intense verbal and non-verbal chemistry ready to break down taboos, questioning our morals. (Nina Veligradi)
Kempinski is a mystical and animist place. People emerge from the dark, holding fluorescent lamps; they speak about a magical world. “Today we have a space station. We will launch space ships and a few satellites soon that will allow us to have much more information about the other stations and other stars.”
A home-made Super-8 musical. On the eve of his 30th birthday, a supermarket plebeian attempts to forge a profound connection with a flighty belle. From the midst of melancholy burst those brief, deceptive moments when everything feels like it is going to be fine.
What can you do on the only day of the week when nothing happens? Sundays are traps where the imagination is the only way out. Listening to opera in a dishwasher or recreate a mess in a transformed space are valid choices when you are alone and bored. (Possidónio Cachapa)
