Disco music was a cultural phenomenon, for fans and non fans. But before that fever came to fruition, it was conceived as a subversive statement. Kastner offers us a study full of humor and satire, giving voice to the academics who emphasize that the musical style was a culture of protest and a liberation movement for the marginalized in American society: african-Americans, women and gay men. He interviews disco legends like Gloria Gaynor, Anita Pointer, Thelma Houston and The Village People.
