Industry+Talks 2022

The industry-oriented programme, a strong bet of the festival in the professional-oriented component, this edition focuses on the presentation of an ambitious selection of the great diversity of Portuguese production and on the conversations that aim to debate and reflect upon the vitality of Portuguese cinema.

The LisbonTalks – Universidade Lusófona returns and opens the conversation about the diversity of Portuguese cinema and the festival’s focus and retrospectives. This year, the section is dedicated to new currents, sub-genres and ways of making cinema. Among the program is a conversation about Doris Wishman’s cinema, the theme of this year’s festival retrospective, with the presence of artist Peggy Ahwesh and curator Lisa Petrucci, to be held at the Cinemateca Portuguesa’s terrace. The way cinema and art gallery increasingly share the same language is the starting point for the online conversation New Matters and Languages – (Un)Constructed Cinema, scheduled for May 5th, 3pm. The FILMar project, from the Cinemateca Portuguesa, dedicated to the restoration, promotion and diffusion of film heritage related to the sea, is the motto for a conversation about the importance of the distribution of cultural heritage. WOMEX will also be at the festival to talk, within the scope of IndieMusic, about world music, interculturalism and how it is worked for the big screen.

The Lisbon Screenings, a parallel activity to promote Portuguese cinema to foreign professionals in co-creation with Portugal Film, will be the main industry event held during this edition, aiming to bring films to international distributors, festivals and exhibition networks. Film industry professionals will be able to see recent or unreleased Portuguese films seeking a world or international premiere and selected for their internationalization potential. This year the Lisbon Screenings will take place again online on May 2nd, 3rd and 4th and will present a selection of shorts and feature films, completed or still in development, to festival directors and programmers, sales agents and distributors, invited exclusively to follow these screenings.

IndieLisboa’s 19th edition will take place between São Jorge Cinema, Culturgest, Cinemateca Portuguesa, Ideal Cinema and Palácio Galveias Library from April 28th to May 8th.  Check the full programme in our digital magazine.
