IndieLisboa 17th Edition Open Air Cinema

IndieLisboa is only two weeks away, and with it the culmination of the summer and, exceptionally this year, also a post-quarent concern about wanting to stay outdoors.
A movie theater is thus added to the other usual ones (Culturgest, Cinema São Jorge, Cinema Ideal, Cinemateca Portuguesa): the Capitólio, where there will be outdoor sessions. Of films from Mouth of Madness –Dreamland, one of them where the dystopian humour and violent coolness of Bruce Macdonald is exemplified – through the International Competition –Baamum Nafi, the first feature film by Senegalese Mamadou Dia will be one of them -, by Silvestre – with Overseas, a film that reflects on modern slavery in a globalized world, and arriving at IndieMusic – White Riot, about the emergence of the anti-racist movement Rock Against Racism, and Show Me the Picture: The Story of Jim Marshall, a dive into the musical mythology and counterculture of the 60s through the renowned images of photographer Jim Marshall.

Also at the Cinemateca esplanade, already a summer place of worship for all cinephiles, there will be several outdoor sessions, several of them from the Ousmane Sembène and 50 Years Forum Berlinale retrospectives.
No other place in the city of Lisbon could receive the projection on the open-air screen from Moolaadé, who in the words of the director and programmer Mafalda Melo “dignify and pay homage to the modern, free Senegalese woman”, or from Elridge Cleaver, Black Panther, the portrait of director and photographer William Klein de Cleaver, a militant of the Black Panther Party movement, a work that transcends ideology and is a close look at a romantic revolutionary, in a lyrical and moving exile.
In the IndieJunior universe, there will also be open-air cinema and, in this case, for the first time.

There will be two open-air sessions. For the younger ones, there is the session Tudo em Família (+3 years), which is repeated (after the session at Culturgest on August 29 at 15h30) and consists of eight short films for the younger ones, and which counts once again with the voiceover of Pedro Cardoso – it takes place on September 4 at the Capitólio at 21h. For a younger audience, the feature film by Edmunds Jansons, Jacob, Mimmi and the Talking Dogs will be shown, a film about a boy who, with the help of his bossy cousin and a pack of local dogs, embark on a project so as not to let a greedy businessman turn a local park into a skyscraper, also on the Capitólio, on September 5th at 9pm.

The 17th edition of IndieLisboa – International Film Festival will take place from August 25th to September 5th at Cinema São Jorge, Culturgest, Cinema Ideal and at Cinemateca Portuguesa and Capitólio. All the program can be found at www.indielisboa.com and tickets can be bought at the Ticketline  or at the physical ticket offices of the festival.
