The animated dolls are really funny and make many grimaces. In this workshop, we will discover how we can animate our favorite characters. First, we make a very different book, which looks more like a toy, then we draw a doll to make many faces. At the end of the workshop, all the participants take home a book / toy, so they can tell a lot of fun stories!

How does a book with 4 pictures become an animated film? And how do you create a story with 4 pictures? You grab the brushes and paint, the pencils and the pens, the cutouts and collages, and you make 4 wishes. Suddenly you have an infinite loop in a paper object that tells stories in circular time (similar to optical toys).

At the end of this workshop, in addition to knowing some visual expression techniques associated with animation cinema, you’ll carry a fun book in your pocket, which has the exact same mechanisms as stop-motion animation or GIFs. You can even show and reticulate them with your friends!

Starting from Clément Trehin Lalanne’s Adam’s Skirt film, we’ve made several proposals to get think outside of the box! Outside the box? Do different things, escape from the comfort zone, see things from a new point of view… all this, from the body and theatricality of the movement. A workshop for parents and children who want to challenge themselves to try other ways to do things. Let’s test the limits between the everyday life and the extraordinary, with very simple proposals, which will shake our system and neurons and wake us up again!

** Clément Trehin Lalanne’s Adam’s Skirt, can be seen in the IndieJunior screenings Things that happen (+ 10 years)

Picnic on Grass! – Outdoor activities after a film screening

All ages
May 11th, 16h00, Palace Galveias’ garden

After the Somewhere between Heaven and Earth screening, which takes place at Culturgest (15h00) with live dubbing, there is nothing better than a Picnic on Grass – bring the blanket and a basket with food. IndieJunior celebrates family and friends and we have prepared a very special moment with some fun activities for the the sunny afternoon. Clay modeling workshops (organised by ceramics students from the António Arroio art school), a kite crafting workshop (by Casa Nic and Inês), a reading space and live music with the Astrus Duo, composed of saxophonist Manuel Teles and percussionist Paulo Amendoeira (Orquestra Metropolitana de Lisboa), among other surprises which will be delightful for the whole family.

* This workshop is inspired by the film Kite by Martin Smatana, which can be seen in the IndieJunior screenings Somewhere between Heaven and Earth (All Ages).
