The film theater, its characters and stories, and the city of Lisbon are the inspiration for this year’s poster for IndieJunior. Created by David Penela, the identity of the section for the younger audience turns the poster into a children’s park, occupied by the graphical elements which immediately remind us of the Portuguese capital. The São Jorge castel, the Monument of Discoveries and the Belém Tower appear in a small scale, as if seen through the eyes of a child, in a version of Lisbon which, through cinema, becomes a playground.
David Penela, who had already designed the poster for IndieJunior Allianz – 1st International Children’s and Youth Film Festival of Porto, studied Fine Arts (Multimedia) at the University of Porto. The young artist has mainly explored the art of illustration, drawing and impression techniques, having had the opportunity to be part of several collective exhibits and individual ones too in the north and south of the country.
