Primeiro dia IndieLisboa: cinema para dar e vender

Today, at Wednesday, April 20, all roads lead to IndieLisboa. The oficial opening is scheduled to the national premiere of Love & Friendship from the section Independent Hero from last year Whit Stillman. The film is shown in Cinema São Jorge, at 21h30.

RoboCop, the most popular film by Paul Verhoeven can be seen in the big screen at Félix Ribeiro auditorium, Cinemateca Portuguesa – Museu do Cinema, at 15h30, the first screening of the festival. Also in the same theatre, the life of one of the most influential photographers of the twentieth century in the documentary Don’t Blink – Robert Frank – at 19h00 in this first day. Afterwards, at 21h30, Wat zien ik/Diary of a Hooker will be the second screening of the retrospective of the Independent Hero Paul Verhoeven, ending the day at Cinemateca Portuguesa.

In another part of town, the Golden Lion in the last edition of Venice Film Festival is shown for the first time in Portugal – the intense drama Desde allá shows at 21h30 in the Great Auditorium of Culturgest. If you prefer to discovery the origins of the great european cinema, it is exhibited in the Small Auditorium, at 21h45, the first group of shorts dedicated to the school films of the French school of cinema, La Fémis. And starts with some heavy-wights: Louis Malle (Crazealogie), the Portuguese director Ruy Guerra (Quand le soleil dort), the dutchman Johan van der Keuken (Du bruit), Jean-Michel Carre (Liberté Jean), Olivier Ducastel (Le goût de plaire) and, a regular name at Indielisboa, Claire Denis (Le 15 mai).

Alternatively, it is shown, at Cinema São Jorge, 21h45, Journal d’hérésie, that gathers in the same creative space the French “sound poet” Anne-James Chaton, the guitar player of the Dutch band The Ex Andy Moor and the founder of the Sonic Youth Thurston Moore.
