Two of the main premieres of the festival take place in the much anticipated opening day (April 20, Wednesday). Whit Stillman, Independent Hero at IndieLisboa last year, returns to the festival with Love & Friendship a comedy of manners that adapts an unpublished novel by Jane Austen, Lady Susan. The film is shown at Manoel de Oliveira room, in Cinema São Jorge, at 21:30.
Golden Lion at the last Venice Film Festival, Desde allá is an intense drama directed by the Venezuelan Pablo Agüero that depicts a stormy relationship between a wealthy man and a teenager who is a leader of a criminal gang in Caracas. The relationship between the two will surface the ghosts of the past and trigger a chain of violence that seems to have no end. The film is shown on April 20 (Wednesday) and 23 (Saturday), at 21h30 and 15h00 in Culturgest and Cinema São Jorge.
