The next few months bring so many good news – let’s leave some to disclose later. As for now, it is important to celebrate the selection of some of the Portuguese films that premiered at IndieLisboa 2015. Here in Lisbon, a project commissioned by IndieLisboa and directed by filmmakers Denis Côté, Dominga Sotomayor, Gabriel Abrantes and Marie Losier, travels to Brazil for Rio International Film Festival, then proceeding to Festival du Nouveau Cinéma in Montréal. Also in Rio International Film Festival is October is Over, directed by Miguel Seabra Lopes and Karen Akerman. At the Festival du Nouveau Cinéma in Montréal the audience will also be able to discover Driving Lesson, directed by André Santos and Marco Leão. André’s Eyes, directed by António Borges Correia (winner of the National Competition at IndieLisboa 2015), was selected for Quebec City Film Festival this September. Francisco Queimadela and Mariana Caló’s The Mesh and the Circle, winner of two awards at the last festival (New Talent Award and Schools Award) will be screened next in 25 FPS (Zagreb), Split Film Festival (Split) and Underdox (Munich). The Wolf’s Lair, directed by Catarina Mourão (audience award for best feature film 2015) was shown at Doc’s Kingdom this September and was selected for the Viennale, IndieCork and a show of Portuguese cinema in Argentina and Uruguay.
