Back to its spring dates, IndieLisboa presents its 19th edition between April 28th and May 8th. With a total of 9 Portuguese feature films programmed, in 2022 we put together the most extensive National Competition in the history of the festival. As a real vitality proof of Portuguese cinema, we bring together authors from different generations and a wide range of artistic approaches.
The retrospective rediscovers director Doris Wishman, a cult figure of North-American independent cinema and the first woman filmmaker to dedicate her work to female sexploitation in cinema. In Silvestre section, the focus is on Light Cone: to celebrate its forty years, the french distributor that promotes and preserves experimental cinema from all over the world, presents in Lisbon some of the films from its admirable catalogue, with special curation by IndieLisboa.
The section dedicated to children is fully back. After two years taking cinema to schools, IndieJunior invites schools to come to cinema theaters once again. Films for all ages, workshops and family activities are scheduled to offer a creative experience, always with cinema at its centre. Also, the more musical side of the festival, IndieMusic, returns in full force. Featuring a wide spectrum of names, from mainstream to underground, these films are reflected in IndiebyNight’s programme of parties and concerts, which happens again after being suspended for two years.
