The goodbye to António Escudeiro: filmmaker and director of photography

The filmmaker and director of photography António Escudeiro, 85 years old, who had been suffering of a long term illness, passed away in Lisbon last Friday night. He produced many TV shows and documentaries for RTP, after 1970, and tons of movies, as “Velocidade de Sedimentação” (2008), a short film starred by Ana Padrão and Miguel Borges. Its official premiere was in IndieLisboa 2008.

“His contribution for the direction of photography is known by its quality, his own technique and creativity during his 35 years of career”, said the Portuguese Image Association, which he was honorary member.

António Escudeiro had around 45 works as director of photoraphy, between short or long films and documentaries, and 250 advertising films. He also worked with producers as Paulo Rocha, António de Macedo, José Fonseca e Costa, José Manuel Lopes, Vicente Jorge Silva and Fernando Lopes-
