A JOURNEY TO THE NEARBY: Matinee of films, talk and music in Café/Estúdio Largo

Don’t miss it! Next Saturday, April 7, we will be at Largo do Intendente for a special screening and other activities to warm up everyone for IndieJúnior, IndieLisboa’s section dedicated to the youngest audiences.

In partnership with Largo Residências, we will show the films Hello Salaam, by Kim Brand and Bon voyage by Fabio Friedli. The documentary Hello Salaam was selected by the students of the Secondary School D. Filipa de Lencastre for IndieLisboa 2018’s edition and tells the story of two boys, Sil (10 years old) and Merlijn (11 years old) as they prepare for a great journey: visiting a refugee camp in the Greek island of Lesbos. The two children – their mothers work in the refugee camp – want to understand the reality of the children living in the camp.

The film Bon voyage, shown in the past in IndieJunior, begins in a very fun way but it progresses to be an animation with a sarcastic tone. The film accompanies the long journey of immigrants and refugees from the Sahel region to Europe, through deserts, overcrowded trucks and small traffickers’ boats.

The two short films address an important theme in current affairs and therefore at the end of the screening there will be an open talk with the participation of Alexander Kpatue Kweh of the Association Refugees of Portugal and one of the students of the School D. Filipa de Lencastre.

To liven up the afternoon, there will be a live hip hop DJ set, with Cláudio Martins (Sleep Patterns) and Rafael Bento (Lost Soul).
