Warm summer nights are perfect for open air cinema. CineCidade, a part of the Lisboa na Rua’17 programme, returns to Jardim do Palácio Pimenta – Museu de Lisboa for another five nights of films. This edition, programmed by IndieLisboa, is dedicated to Dystopic Cities, with the metropolis as a central axis. The films shown present invented or real cities, which have undergone architectural, urban or sociological transformations through the vision of each of the filmmakers. Opening the programme, we present Sleeper, Woody Allen’s satirical science fiction comedy. Milles Monroe (Woody Allen) is a jazz musician who enters a New York hospital for a minor operation on an ulcer. But things do not go as planned and Milles is frozen, eventually waking up 200 years later. As if the temporal gap is not enough, he is faced with a dictator-dominated society. Milles has a very important role to play since, as a man of the past, he is not yet controlled by the system and gathers very important historical information. Free entry.
