On April 26th at Cinema São Jorge (Auditorium 2), LisbonTalks start earlier to screen Tricked: Paul’s Experience, a 35 minute documentary about the experience of Paul Verhoeven in directing his last film Steekspel/Tricked. This documentary is shown at 17h30, followed by the debate Paul Verhoeven, the megalomaniac independent, with a talk composed by film critics Luís Miguel Oliveira (Público), Vasco Baptista Marques (Expresso) and Vasco Câmara (Público). Carlos Natálio, from the website À pala de Walsh, will moderate the debate. The entrance is free. Universidade Lusófona will give logistic and technical support.
In a reference to Fellini’s 8 ½, Verhoeven considers this as his 14 ½ film. Writing only half the story, this is the result of an experience that gathered multiple ideas from various participants in a Dutch film-project competition.
The screening of the documentary Tricked: Paul’s Experience anticipates the showing of Tricked, premiering in Portugal in Cinemateca Portuguesa – Museu do Cinema the following day (April 27th), at 21h30.
