(EN) Viennale pays an hommage to Manuel Mozos

A tribute programmed by Portuguese director Miguel Gomes will pay hommage to Manuel Mozos at Viennale.

The purpose of the Ghost of Cinema programme is to make Mozos’ work known outside Portugal. Besides Ruínas (2009), winner of the IndieLisboa’09 Tobis Award for Best Portuguese Feature FIlm, the following films by this director will be screened: ‚Ķ Quando Troveja (1999), Cinema Português? (1996), Um Passo, Outro Passo e Depois ‚Ķ (1990) and Xavier (1991/2001).

In the Carte Blanche that was given to Manuel Mozos, he chose five films that represent the history of Portuguese cinema. Belarmino by Fernando Lopes (1964), O Bobo by José Álvaro de Morais (1987), Recordações da Casa Amarela by João César Monteiro (1989), Trás-os-Montes by António Reis e Margarida Cordeiro (1976) and Os Verdes Anos by Paulo Rocha (1963) will also be screened in this programme.

After being present at IndieLisboa’12 with the special programme Happy Birthday Viennale ‚ Five Decades in Five Films, the Vienna International Film Festival hosts Portuguese Cinema in its 50th anniversary.
