Greenberg, by Noah Baumbach, will be the first movie screened at IndieLisboa’10. With soundtrack by James Murphy (lead singer of LCD Soundsystem), the movie tells the story of Roger Greenberg (Ben Stiller), a 40-year-old-man who suffers from chronic depression and has no clue what to do with his life. After a warm welcome at the Berlin Festival and a week before it’s premiere in Portugal, Greenberg will be presented at IndieLisboa on the 22th of April, 7 p.m., at Culturgest (Large Auditorium).
Also on the 22th, at 9.30 p.m., the festival will have it’s Official Opening at São Jorge Cinema, with the world premiere of Portuguese filmmaker João Canijo’s most recent film. Produced by Periferia Filmes, Fantasia Lusitana portraits the city of Lisbon during World War II, when it served as a corridor between Europe and America for 100.000 refugees escaping the Nazi Regime. The documentary explores the relationship between Portuguese people and these foreigners, how their stay influenced (or not) our views on the war and the search for the cultural heritage they left behind (or not). This compelling interpretation of 20th Century Portuguese history joins archival footage and testimonials in the voices of Hanna Schygulla, Rudiger Vogler and Christian Patey.
