The 21st edition of Rio de Janeiro International Short Film Festival, Curta Cinema, promotes a Focus on Portugal, featuring Portuguese short films.

The Focus on Portugal programme was developed by different partners, namely the IndieLisboa and Vila do Conde Festivals, the TV programme Onda Curta and the Agência da Curta-Metragem.

IndieLisboa’s proposals present a tour on the promising new filmmakers the festival has unveiled in its eight editions. The short films IndieLisboa has programmed are: Of.Balance by Edgar Santinhos and João Biscaia, Weekend by Cláudia Varejão, Outside by Sérgio Cruz, Arena by João Salaviza, Birds by Filipe Abranches, Flesh by Carlos Conceição, Fuera de cuadro by Márcio Laranjeira and A History of Mutual Respect by Gabriel Abrantes and Daniel Schmidt.

Rui Pereira, one of the IndieLisboa’s directors, will be in Rio de Janeiro to attend this showcase. IndieLisboa participation is based on its commitment, since the first edition, towards the promotion of Portuguese cinema in Portugal and abroad, providing space for the development of new cinematographic languages and promising filmmakers.

The Rio de Janeiro International Short Film Festival will take place in Brazil from October 27th to November 6th.
