Liberdade and É na Terra Não É na Lua, films screened at IndieLisboa’11, were awarded at Locarno Film Festival.
Liberdade, co-directed by Gabriel Abrantes and Benjamin Crotty, was awarded the Film and Video Prize at the Pardi di Domani section after receiving the Restart Award for Best Portuguese Short Film Director at IndieLisboa. For the second time in a row, Abrantes was awarded at Locarno, after receiving the Golden Leopard in 2010 for A History of Mutual Respect, also distinguished with the Media Recording Award for Portuguese Best Short Film in IndieLisboa’10.
Gonçalo Tocha’s É na Terra Não é na Lua was awarded a Special Mention in the Cineasti del presente section, dedicated to young filmmakers. This was the first screening of the complete documentary, after the presentation of a 30 minute work in progress version at IndieLisboa’11.
