Ruínas by Manuel Mozos was selected to be part of the International Competition at the Marseille film festival, one of the most prestigious of the international documentary festivals. After winning the prize for best Portuguese feature film at IndieLisboa’09, Manuel Mozos is now on the run for the main trophy at the French festival. FidMarseille celebrates its 20th edition and it will be held from July 8 to July 13.
Ruínas present us fragments of spaces and times, remains of eras and places only inhabited by memories and ghosts. It challenges us to gaze at the time transformation which turns places once living into spaces obsolete and empty.
According to Manuel Mozos, “it’s not a question of explaining why were they created and why they existed, nor the reasons of its abandonment or transformation. It’s only a question of promoting an idea, maybe poetic, about something which was and is a part of this country’s history(s).”
Besides Mozos’s film representing the Portuguese Cinema, Pedro Costa was also selected to integrate the International Competition with his most recent film “Ne Change Rien”. In addition to that, Miguel Gomes is going to figure among the main jury of the film festival.
