IndieLisboa’s Sundays are of film-concert at Museu do Oriente. The first one is Sherlock Jr., who joins Buster Keaton (in the screen) to antonipedro and Filipe Rocha, on day 26. One week later, on May 3rd, Matinée (remix) brings antoniopedro back to the stage, but this time with Ana Araújo and on Fyodor Khitruk’s films.
Victim of the villain who steals his reputation and, worse, his girlfriend, projectionist Buster returns to his screening room and‚Ķ falls asleep. Then he dreams he’s Sherlock Jr., the greater detective of all time, and that, after some scenes of persecution, he unmasks and captures the bad guy of the ribbon.
Sherlock Jr.‚Äòs soundtrack is played live by an improbable jazz trio: with piano but without the pianist. Reduced in theory to the skeleton bass-battery of a rhythmic section, antonipedro and Filipe Rocha pull a frantic race (like what’s happening on screen). One of the most brilliant films by Buster Keaton.
antoniopedro composed other soundtrack, this one with Ana Araújo to be played live and side by side with Fyodor Khitruk’s films, one of the most important and influential Russian author of animation cinema. It’s a false trio where the third element is what’s happening on screen, this project unites a rigorous preparation with improvisation, making each presentation unique.
In this Matinée (remix) there’s his first film, Story of One Crime, visual and sonorous satire to modern times; Boniface’s Holiday, about the tender vacations of a circus lion that’s going to visit his grandmother in Africa; and Island, sociological picture on the current world, with final note of hope and optimism. The pictures are narrated live and in Portuguese.
