A couple of new discoveries copyright, with an important role in various sections of the festival, IndieLisboa presents – in Observatory section – movies of aclaimed directors, mostly filmakers who already have a connection to the festival. It is the case of Harmony Korine, the only director capable of transforming pop stars juveniles mercenary orders to James Franco, a seductive drug dealer. His latest film, Spring Breakers, will premiere in IndieLisboa.
Also Noah Baumbach is back in IndieLisboa – Greenberg was the first session of the festival in 2010 – with the long-awaited Frances Ha, written by film along with actress Greta Gerwig, the lovely Frances.
In a totally different register of Kill List, Ben Wheatley explores now the darker side of British humor. Sightseers will not be for the weak of stomach but is a hilarious road trip, from beginning to end.
The work of Werner Herzog has been accompanied by the festival. Hero was IndieLisboa Independent in 2009. This year, following the film Into the Abyss, shown in 2012, bring the four episodes of Death Row Portraits, the mini-series that descends from the same project that accompanies those condemned to death in the United States.
Ulrich Seidl, filmmaker whose films have been shown in previous years the IndieLisboa, shocked the public of major festivals with his latest work in three parts. Paradise: Love, Paradise: Faith and Paradise: Hope can be viewed independently of each other but the magnitude of the puzzle we perceive mastery of this art: Seidl not afraid to bring humor to the extreme to force ourselves to see how sad are the illusions. The director will have a special focus section of the Observatory, which will be also shown documentaries Animal Love, You Know Jesus and Models, films with a direct, though subtle, with the trilogy Paradise.
