(EN) In memoriam of Nika Bohinc and Alexis Tioseco

IndieLisboa would like to present its deepest condolences for the tragic loss of Nika Bohinc and Alexis Tioseco.

Nika Bohinc was a friend and a collaborator of IndieLisboa almost since the very begining of the festival, contributing with her knowledge and contagious entusiasm to several projects developed in the festival in the last five years. Also, in the 5th edition, she was a member of the FIPRESCI Jury and in IndieLisboa’09 she introduced screenings and did the Q&A’s, wrote several articles about daily activities for the festival’s blog and organized a roundtable on the state of film criticism.

Nika Bohinc was born in 1979, in Slovenia. She was a writer and editor of Ekran, a Slovenia based yet internationally orientated and composed film magazine founded in 1962. She ran a series of seminars for young film writers (Little School of the Gaze) in Ljubljana and curated the annual Ekran Autumn Film School Symposium. She was a member of Programe Board for Isola Film Festival and Ljubljana International Film Festival, and was the President of the FIPRESCI Slovenia.

Alexis Tioseco was a well known and respected film critic. He wrote for a wide range of publications, including leading local newspapers, the Philippine Daily Inquirer and Philippine Star. He was also a member of the FIPRESCI Jury and participated in several film festivals as a specialist on cinema from the Philippines.
